I use FL Studio 21 for all of my music. My old stuff was in Garageband, though. I use a lot of soundfonts. I use the stock FL Studio soundfont player but sforzando is good too. I mostly use the SGM soundfont, but I use some other stuff too. As a starter, I reccomend just going to the Toby Fox Sample Sheet and going to "Composer Equipment." It's a good start for a lot of free stuff. I also reccomend getting random sample packs from reddit. They're a good way to get nice sounding drums. I don't like using premade loops, but it's up to you. One other thing I like to do is using sample CDs from the 90s. This is a huge library of them. I reccomend the Best Service Gigapacks, Best Service Voice Spectral, and the Zero-G Datafiles especially. For more sample CDs, check out the composer equipment on the Pizza Tower Sample Sheet. As for VSTs, I use a lot of Ample Bass P Lite, Spitfire LABS, Keyzone Classic, Matt Montag's NES VST 1.2, RaveGenerator2, Surge XT, Synth1, the old Illformed effect plugins, the free Melda effect plugins, the Xfer Records freeware, LePhonk, and Valhalla Supermassive. I use almost entirely presets, so feel no shame for doing the same, if you want to. For digital art, I use paint.net almost exclusively. You can download lots of cool effects. I use the stock fractal and gradient plugins and Xhin's Advanced Kaleidoscope plugin a lot.
